The almighty Right Away, Great Captain! 4xLP set. Triple gatefold sleeve, 4xLPs, insert, 1000 copies sold out IMMEDIATELY. I’m lucky i got one! The artwork spans 5 years of work from the CD versions done previously. This thing is a beast and i couldn’t be more proud of it. From the inception of this project i had hoped we’d do all the LPs as one set someday. And here we are. Here’s what a Modern Vinyl reviewer had to say:
When looking at the packaging for this mammoth 4xLP set, I’m torn. On one hand, you have an extremely attractive piece of work, highlighted by the beautifully designed images which mark each individual inside panel. When you add in the three colors of vinyl — opaque orange for “The Bitter End,” blue/grey vinyl for “The Eventually Home,” and opaque green vinyl for “The Church Of The Good Thief” — you have the type of packaging that makes a fan get into vinyl in the first place. I even dug the gatefold jacket, despite the fact that two records were forced to fit into one section.
His ‘on the other hand’ is about the lack of a lyric sheet. Understandable but we couldn’t have fit the lyrics for 36 songs in this package! The ‘deluxe package’ did include handwritten lyrics (which is the same packaging just with some extras). When we did all the packaging we didn’t realize that the first LP was going to have to be on two records… that was a last minute change… but it still fits in there… its just busting at the seems a little bit with awesomeness.
Oh and we did a play on the standard Favorite Gentlemen LP labels and put Andy on them. That’s my favorite touch.
